Post by: MOCAJ on May 16, 2006, 09:01:33 PM
Will i need a sye and cv driveshaft for the above, to fit a 97

anybody got experiences  :?:  :?:

if i need the above, prob best to go the whole hog 4" or go the cheaper 2" option with none of the above needed.

What do we know  :?

Anything over 2" and you'll struggle to keep driveline vibes in check. Add a 1" body lift if you want a bit more tyre clearence, but on 31s it isn't necessary, and that's the maximum you want without regearing anyway.

Spent sometime on this subject a while ago (Hats of to my mate who researched  his butt off on the subject). SYE is needed for over 2", unless you use a drop down kit for the belly plate. Which kinda defeats a object of raising the vehicle.

Installed an SYE/Double Cardon prop a month or so ago, with a Terraflex tummy tuck and 4" Full Traction suspension system (short arm) Has given the vehicle a new lease of life on break over angle.

Spend out once on a good lift/SYE and Tummy Tuck and in the long run you be better off.

Have seen a OME 2" lift kit with SYE and Tummy tuck that works.

I've got the Teraflex 2" sus. lift, I got 3" of lift from it, no SYE or transfer case lowering, used 1" motor mounts instead, I don't have any drive line vibes. Jeeps do seem to vary from one vehicle to the next though.

That comment came up a lot when talking to other Jeepers. Hav'nt yet got my head around what actually could make them vary?

bubba's right

3" BDS without any vibes people say it gives nearly 4" lift
running a 1" body lift and 1" lifted motor mounts

runs smoother than the 2.5" skyjacker i took off

just bear in mind m.o.r.e and similar lifted motor mounts give you more feedback than standard motor mounts, due to the firmer mounting of the engine,
not to be confused with vibes

weighing it all up, i think i will go with my original plans.

Thats to go for a "Manda lift", 2" teraflex spring lift, 1" body lift and 1" motor mounts, after following her truck in the welsh hills earlier this year i know just how well it flexes.  :D

Have worked it out and i just don't want to spend that sort of money just yet and i want to learn how to drive the truck before getting carried away.

Now, where's that 4wd catalogue Gail  :?:
