I'm in the process of bringing my XJ back to where it should be, and have the following issues/questions:
- What bulb does the sidelight take (the secondary bulb inside the headlamp)?
- The driver's door controls are playing up. The electric mirrors won't move, and the central locking will unlock but not lock from that door. I've already replaced the switch panel. Is this a wiring harness issue?
- The passenger electric seat won't move backwards but moves forwards fine. Is this a dodgy switch?
- The heated rear windscreen doesn't work at all. As far as I'm aware the mirrors still heat up fine.
Any help with any of these issues would be appreciated. 8-)

have you looked where the wiring passes from the door to the body XJ's tend to get brakes in the wiring there

:iagree: The loom from the door into the main body is a known weak point on XJs and ZJs. Failure there can cause some really strange faults. Don't think that the rear screen heater would be affected by that though. Look at the connection on the glass. If it looks flaky then some silver paint from Maplins should sort it.

I'll have a look at the wiring harness. Admittedly I did have to replace the speaker wire in there years ago, back when the XJ was still my Dad's.
Anyone know what bulb for the sidelight? It's the one thing remaining for its MOT!

Pretty sure it's the type with the flat push in fitting, same as side light
-
The sidelight is a bayonet fitting bulb. Can't remember the number unfortunately.

Cheers, I could just take the good one out to inspect, but it's cold and I'm lazy!
