Hi, I am a new member and I need some help please. I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 crd 5cyl merc diesel. It has a problem starting when cold which has got worse since the winter has set in, I initially found 2 glow plugs out with one causing a dead short resulting in the glow plug fuse to be blown. Replaced all the glow plugs and fuse and everything worked and it started fine, for a few days. But the problem came back, refused to start when cold, if left in the sun with the hood open after an hour it would start !.When started it ran fine and started no problems until left overnight. I have changed the pressure regulator on the end of the common rail, thinking it was a fuel pressure problem, but not difference. No visible bubbles in the fuel lines but I will change the o rings anyway when they turn up.
What I need to do now is to check the signals from the engine speed sensor and the camshaft sensor at the ECU. Does anyone have pin data for a Bosch 0281010293 P56044356AC and or an engine wiring diagram with some data on injector current readings please.
Any help would be appreciated I have already worn out a starter motor and ready to throw the towel in on this one. I live in rural france and dont have a dealer near for help. :017:

Hi All, thanks for your feedback, I forgot to mention it has had 5 brand new Bosch injectors fitted in Feb this year just before I bought it from the previous owner, I now realize he has sold it to me before the problem resurfaced when it got cold again. I also think it been around a few garages to be sorted but with no success.Even though they missed the blown fuse and 2 duff glow plugs. I would like to find out what is the fault and fix it my self. Its too nice a 4x4 to give up on.If anyone knows where I might find pin data for the ECU mentioned in my first post I will begin again from there. :icon_sad:

Not sure if you have it, but here is the 2.7 service manual supplement (think its for a 2002), so hopefully that might be a starting point...

recheck the glow plugs? - if that sorted it, then it has come back - have some popped quickly?

were the injectors programed ?
