Strange question How easy is it to remove an LPG system from a Jeep?
-
very if it's a signal point you need a new manifold if a multi point
-
Took mine off the 1tonne this time last year.....
As said get a manifold first..... I got one,off the bay......it was the wrong one ......then found,a NOS on the bay for less.... :icon_super:
Apart from that you will need to acces the loom across the bulkhead engine side and remove and in some cases solder up 8 wires .
Everything else just comes out as it went in.....
Seems to be confusion over XJ and YJ and TJ manifolds......so the part no IS important.....
(As I realised :hysterical:)

Ta fuel for thought....
-
As has been said before.
If it's a single point system it can be removed like it was never there.
Except the filler cap of course.
But that can be left behind for a re installation if needed.

2 x ZGs with santa fuel I missed In the meantime other stuff has appeared which intrigues da Bish

Why a new manifold for sequential systems? Surely the LPG injectors don't use an oddball thread and can just be plugged, or am I missing something?
-
I'm running away again now

For £40 you're ready to reassemble and make selling the whole shebang more attractive to the next buyer of your old junk, who won't have to tap the manifold.
At least that was my thinking :icon_twisted:

I have plugged the manifold where LPG injector were, it does work fine M5 thread iirc

Fair comment, but if I'm having to remove the manifold anyway, drilling and tapping half a dozen holes is no real bother.

If you're removing it to sell and it's an injection LPG system, many buyers won't want (or perhaps be able) to drill and tap the manifold. If they can simply unbolt one and bolt on the new one complete with LPG injectors, injector rail etc it will be much easier in their eyes.
Don't know if i've missed the point there but if you're removing it for a different reason such as simply disabling it on your Jeep then i'd suggest leaving the injectors in place with the pipes to the "spuds" in the manifold to keep everything sealed and just remove the gas feed to the injector rail, reducer, ECU etc.
You will also have to make sure the original injector wiring for the OE (petrol) injectors is put back as it should be, the Jeep EFi system needs emulators for the injectors when running on gas to revent the MIL coming on. As such, either an additional bit of loom may have been plugged in between the OE injector plugs and injectors or the OE loom will have been cut on each injector with the additional wiring for the emulators soldered in.
The emulators effectively switch the petrol injectors off when running on gas so even if someone has taken a short cut and simply cut the main petrol injector feed and used another part of the LPG system to disconnect the memory function from the OE EFi ECU to prevent the MIL coming on, you're going to need to sort some wiring out.
Hope that's helpful, i'm no expert on LPG but have learned a little over recent months.

We all know your opinion on LPG. Why let that be an obstacle in buying the Jeep you want. :017: Just run it on petrol and you've always got LPG as a back up if you need it.

Aaaaaahhhhhh! Thought i had missed something somewhere! :iagree: Bottom line is if/when you come to sell it, many people will be more likely to buy it simply because the running cossts are reduced.

even simpler idea.... don't put any lpg in it ...... :hysterical: oh and ignore switch...... :hysterical:

Stop feeding the troll

On a lot of forums you can put certain people on ..... ignore. Now there's an idea :003:

Most LPG systems I've had dealings with over the years (quite a few) are a piece of cake to install and decommission.
As regards replacing drilled and tapped manifolds, I would and have done that when performance, in the way of gas flow is important. But on Jeep style, agricultural engines, I wouldn't bother. I'd bung them up with threaded bungs, available from most, if not all industrial suppliers. I've only ever seen BSP, Metric and Metric Fine used, all of which are readily available. Although I've always used stainless steel bungs, to help prevent thermal expansion/contraction...

if your not mechanically adept then removing it will be a problem. but there again some people have problem putting fuel in their cars

Hmm interesting GMad
