Has anyone actually managed to get some of the free play that occurs in your avenge cj power steering box by adjustment?
if not do you think a referb on the box would remove some of the slack? (the box is other wise fine , no leaks etc) and if so any recommendations where?
thanks all again

Which steering box do you mean as havent heard of "avenger" before?
If this is the squareish manual job there is a nut and grubscrew on top of the vertical shaft for adjustment and over centre drag.
I stripped mine down and replaced all the bearings and seals then adjusted per the Chiltons manual, worked fine for me even with 33x10.5 15s fitted.
It's not the best box in the world as steering is quite heavy, but as I dont have the dosh to fit power steering I just rely on the large diameter steering wheel, brute force and a strengthened steering box bracket.

big steering wheel and strong brace works, parking can be fun

Sorry I meant "average cj power steering box" ( not avenger, lol)
I've been quoted £200 to get mine referbed, not sure if that's a good price or not tbh. I might try a very small tweak to the adjust meant screw on top, see if that helps first.
