Hi TorqueFlite experts.
My CJ7 has been left without a kickdown linkage since a carb swap a week or so ago.
The installer allowed me to drive away saying that I would survive without a kickdown until we get linkage kit.
However, since experiencing odd transmission behaviour I have read up that this linkage is essential to provide line pressure to the clutches.
Now. Have I smoked my transmission already? Done, maybe, 60 easy miles in this state.
Does manually shifting first to second allow limited driving capability, with decent line pressure, to get it to the tranny engineers?
Can I tie the throttle linkage lever halfway to provide decent line pressure in the box for a while?
Should I not drive it until linkage is in?
Advice appreciated.

i am no expert but i wouldnt drive it as that linkage needs to be set correctly or you risk burning out the box, but why has the rod gone anyway as its a separately mounted part to the carb and mounted on its own bracket? :017:

Its now a dual carb setup. Entirely different throttle linkage. I'm just waiting on a Lokar kickdown cable kit from Summit.

I am now intrigued as to what engine you have in there that requires 2 carbs??

there was an option for a perfomance part supplier who made a a "split" manifold for the straight six which allowed two webber carbs to be installed. Wasnt sold in big numbers and now i believe is not obtainable now.

I have a Clifford Performance dual intake with two Weber 38s and Redline throttle linkage.
Also, Clifford dual exhaust headers and custom dual outlet stainless exhaust.

On a stock 258 I6 I should add.

one of a king intake system, that no one else has copied. looked at it but didnt persue as they are like hens teeth. rumoured to work well.
Post a picture of the installation
