Apologies folks, been a bit remiss with posting the date.
Cheapfest 2016 is over the weekend of September 10th - 11th.
More details to follow in the not too distant but vague plans will be the usual BBQ on the Saturday night & hopefully we will get the Marquee from the scouts again, posh toilets with shower etc.
Would be good if we could incorporate the activities from the breakout but will need help from lots of folks with both them, the BBQ & a bit of marshalling.
Any ideas for activities / plans, & volunteering, feel free to post them up here in the meantime.
Cost I expect to be the usual £50 for the weekend paid in advance or £30 for the day, but will confirm.
Any new friends of members are welcome providing you can vouch for them, i.e. no frigging idiots or they will be escorted from the site, & they must join up on here to be covered by PLI.
Post up your thoughts on here folks, its your event :icon_super:

How many vehicles did we have attend last year?
Would 75 'entry plates' be enough?
-
Hi Ivan, that would be great thank you :icon_super:
Can we also do a sign for the gate that says something along the line of private club event, members only. Might help prevent chancers passing & trying their luck turning up.
Thanks again mate :icon_super:
-
where is the link to get the weekend membership camping tickets ?
-
No problem with the signs. I'll pass them on to Ted along with the entry plates.

Just waiting to sort prices out, it will be via a PM to my Paypal when decided, not long now folks, please bear with me :icon_super:
-
As in huggy bear ??

Apologies for the late posting of this info. The cost of the club public liability insurance has doubled this year as our old insurer no longer does the policy we need so the only remaining insurer cost just shy £1000.
With that in mind, I'm afraid we have had to reflect this in the price of the tickets this year. Early payment discounts on a sliding scale are available now.
£50 for the weekend paid by Friday August 12th (a month before event)
£55 up to 31st August & £60 between then & the event.
One day tickets will be £30, £35 & then £40 within the dates as above.
Payment can be made by sending me a PM & I will forward you the paypal details, the club uses my paypal account. Please pay as a friend so that the club does not loose out on fees.
Any questions just ask.
Its been a difficult decision because Birtys does not look to make a profit, just cover costs & we are always mindfull that its is your event which makes it what it is.
Cheers all
Gaz

Very much depends on the weather nearer the time. There's a bit of both there. I'd go with the Baja claws unless it rains a lot before hand.
-
thanks Donk, I am back from Dubai on Tuesday, will look into getting them on, and fixing the front winch, and the MOT, and the top and bottom ball joints, and servicing it, and all the other Sh1te that needs doing, but then again it is a Jeep........ :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes:
-
Jeez and most of us worry about if they have a running truck for the weekend or if Bulldog will break down again on the route there.
ill think ill stick with the mud terrains ive got

I'm looking forward to seeing a jk used in anger..
-
Ezz,
when you say used in anger.....
do you just mean following you round a course of your making that shouldn't be able to be driven?
-
you mean like this ?
-
Yeah, just nice to see one pushed a little, i sold mine before I had a chance to properly use and evolve it, I decided to concentrate on the Tj, plus I needed a good tow and family car, something a 2 door jk wasn't...
-
I know what you mean about towing, they are not ideal, but I do tow my caravan with both of mine, I try not to tow the van to events, if I break the jeep, then the jeep and van are both stuck, I was having trouble with the auto box getting hot, but I have fitted another cooler in line with the original one, and it is good now, the problem now is the coolers get clogged very easily, and getting them out is a really shit job, I took all mine out a few weeks ago, you have to take half the front end of the jeep off, takes about a day and a half, including beer stop's....
-
Betty Blue has an MOT, looks like I will need to sign up :97:
-
Roll up, roll up folks.
The last day for £50 weekend tickets has been extended to midnight on Sunday (tomorrow) .... after that I'm afraid it goes up £5.

Not been around for a while - apologies on that, just lots of other shite going on - and for the first time will miss CF as got a knee op 4 days before - no way I will be able to pitch a Bulldog sized tent for me and the hyperactive monkeys on one leg :010:
We all gutted but next year we will return - have a good one gents :greggmo:
-
We'll be in Amsterdam that weekend unfortunately. Have a good time in the mud!

Have a great weekend folks - I really hope we'll have got the TJ back on the road by next year's event!! :icon_eek:
-
Well made it there, drove around, didnt break it, Jo didnt break it, now just the long drive home.
-
Just completed my trip down to Hayes and back to Derby, 272 Miles , 24.8 MPG (very pleased). Had a good time at fest as well hope the tent came down better than it went up !!!!
-
Sorry Ted, kind of blown that into the weeds, gas tank fill x4, miles allot and yet to work out. MPG possibly just into double figures
-
Had a great time,
Quote of the day was when I heard Kev say to his kids " try not to get to dirty" :lol_hitting:
-
Blindin' Weekend!!!! Nuff said.
-
17.5mpg in petrol and somewhat similar in ATF, but she did get me home without a recovery truck and is now in the garage in disgrace still dripping red fluid everywhere :jpshakehead:
Still had a good time though even if it was a little quieter than normal.
As per usual thanks to the organisers!!
-
Before it got dirty

Great weekend, flew by without a Jeep breakdown for me which is a rarity and long may it continue.
Thanks to everyone involved organising it, especially Donk, James B, Andy and the half dozen others I've forgotten to name that struggled to setup marquee, sort portaloos and get the place ready for us all.
-
Just wanted to say thanks to all you guys who organised the event.
I didn't go on the off road site with my KJ but we had a nice time at the BBQ
and around the Bonfire chatting to few beer drinker Birties. :icon_super:
-
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who was able to attend this year's cheapfest, although a little light on numbers this year, I hope it went as well as previous years even though many folk were sincerely missed ... life & stuff does get in the way sometimes & it cant be helped.
Many individual thank you's have to go to Ted & Ivan plus his folks, Team Donk without whose usual sterling efforts with the marquee would have made life less comfortable with the damp Saturday day time & of course the boys stepping up later to cook the BBQ.
Bubba & his hunter gathering of stuff to burn & his magic concoction, re-named liquid daylight to keep us warmed & entertained for Saturday nights traditional camp inferno.
If I have missed anyone out I apologise, I hope Zac got home OK & his Jeep is an easy fix.
Just to add, a big thank you for the very kind donations to the BBQ fund, all costs were covered & even a tenner went in the pot. Talking of which, after all the site & loo expenses etc were paid up (thanks again to the early payers), I was able to bank £430 today to go into the kitty towards next years PLI insurance & event deposits.
Thanks again all
Gaz

Great weekend and thank you to all involved. Starting to feel much more a part of birties too now that I'm getting to know some of you and the Jeeps better.
Looking forward to the next one...
What is this turkey hunt you speak of??
-
Gutted I never got there, work on friday got in the way. As it did on Saturday with a couple of callouts and Sunday I had to be a good husband and view a new horse for Nat which ended up been an all day thing.
But turkey hunt is blocked out the diary and a new off roader is parked on the trailer
