Hi Everyone,
I bought a WJ for playing around in, to tow various trailers and be a better vehicle when we get snow.
The plan has always been to lift it, and get some better/larger tyres on there. I've always thought they looked undershod as standard.
So what are people's thoughts for lifting these in the UK? I read the build threads over on JeepForum, and get carried away, then realise it will cost an arm and a leg to get it over here.
Ideally I'd like to fit 265/75 R16 under it, which means either a 3 or 4 inch lift with some trimming from what I can gather. I guess what I'm asking is, what have you guys done over here from a UK purchasing perspective?
Cheers,
Joe :steeringwheel:

Squeeze the tyres on with a bit less lift and save yourself a ton of driveline and other issues. Trimming bodywork (slightly, maybe just inner stuff) and adjusting bumpstops will help massively save putting on that extra inch of life that could cost you £££ in extra stuff to alter (propshafts etc)
-
:iagree: 3" max or that extra with cost you as will need to start messing the props etc.

Been here, can't afford the t-shirts!!

Keep it below 3" of lift, fit 245-75-17 tyres (32"), fit adjustable front upper arms to get steering back to spec.
gives you this

I have had 2,3,4 & 5.5" lifts, short and long arm and without a doubt what I have now is the best, I may even lower the front to 2" lift to save the front prop some more. Also DO NOT fit roll bar disconnects with the stock CV prop, it will go pop when you flex, even on a stock Jeep.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I was thinking 3 inch, don't like the thought of having to adjust the prop shafts etc.
Scrw, which 3 inch lift did you use? Do you think you'd squeeze 265/65 under there?

IRO springs, RC shocks, IRO upper front arms.
265's will work on stock alloys, on steel modulars you will have to hack the front bumper, on my 245s I have removed about 2" from the bottom lip, and maybe get adjustable lower front arms too to shove the axle forward a touch to clear the cill. Some info on mine here

Thanks scrw, I'd had a look on your site before, although I didn't realise it was your's.
Did you get your kit from Llama?

This is basically what I'm looking for I think! Perhaps with some spacers, although I know that will mean more trimming.

That looks more than a 3" lift, maybe more that 4.
Mine is IRO springs & adjustable front arms from the US and shocks from Llama
