Title: transparent red lacquer?
Post by: johnnyboy on February 28, 2018, 09:40:05 PM
I want to convert a clear LED flood light into a fog light (to match the LED flood light that I an wiring up as a reversing light...),

To do this it needs to be red.

(I can't find a red one I like on Amazon, so I have bought 2 clear ones. Now all I need is some red tinted lacquer/varnish to make it red....)

Any suggestions as to a product / supplier?

Is it just a flat lens that a piece of perspex could be stuck over? I got US LED rear lamps and stuck amber perspex over the reverse LEDs to use them as indicators.

nail varnish?

I know it sounds stupid, but I actually used that method, many years ago to convert a clear lens to amber (indicator)....worked fine.

Applied on the inside, of course.

For future reference, if anyone wants to convert a clear light to red for any reason, the answer is "lens repair tape"...

Clear and sticky and available in red and several other colours including amber.

£1.99 for a ten meter roll from my local motor factor...

Works a treat.
