Title: Changing engine size on V5
Post by: djrr6 on March 12, 2018, 02:45:09 PM
Has anyone ever changed their engine and updated the size on the V5?

It would appear from various sites that DVLA have massively tightened up on the rules around engine changes and require a receipt for the engine, an independent inspection or receipt from barge that installed to update the V5 with various people saying they were told to put a Q plate on when it had changed

Just wondering for all the 360 guys out there if they had done this as a non factory engine as my insurance company are happy with it but don’t want it taken off the road if I do ever manage to get it back on the road.

Yes been to the DVLA site and seen their advice as it makes it very difficult not having either a receipt or a garage that’s installed it so wanted to know if anyone had actually gone through the process so far and whether they actually got chased up on details

I know of a few changes engines on here so hoping someone has done it

One of the options is "an inspection report provided for insurance purposes". Might be worth asking your insurers if they have, or can recommend, somebody to provide such a report?

Send me some photos of the installation and the Jeep, an image of the current V5, the engine number and your details and I'll write you a letter for the DVLA.
