OK i know there are a million US threads on this, but has anyone here in UK actually put a 4.0 from a later jeep into a 4.2 cj7?
My cj7 has a freshly rebuilt t176 4 speed that im pretty sure will bolt straight up to later 4.0 engine, can anyone actually confirm?
cheers

The mounting is all the same so it will physically bolt directly in. I have not done the swap but the 4.0 is a much better unit with the fuel injection. The only thing I can think of is the crank position sensor. The 4.0 flywheel and bell housing on the trans are set up for the sensor. You can get a relocation kit easily enough where it is moved to the front damper.
