I need new windscreen glass for 2002 TJ. I have tried a few places and they say they will get back to me. That was 2 months ago. Is there a place in UK I can order the glass and just bring it in to a local place.
The local place cut the glass before for a CJ for me but now they wont as its needs to be stamped to pass a test and the had issues before.
I am in Galway, ireland but assume shouldnt be an issue posting this stuff. There is one in the USA for 79$ but assume I'll be paying double this side of the pond.
Thanks

Have you not got windscreen cover on your insurance mate ?
Usually you only pay about £75 for replacement glass & it doesn't effect your normal no claims :icon_super:
Just a thought :icon_winkle:

I was too honest when getting cover and declared a crack. Anyway the guys the insurance companies use here can't get it here either.
It doesnt affect your claims bonus here but when you ask for cover you have to declare you made a claim , even windscreen, and Im sure they take it into account if they are asking on next quote.

bugger, was just a thought.
Will have a look on tinternet around this side of the water, have you got national windscreens or autoglass over there mate ?

Not sure if it helps but I used nick at Halifax windscreens and he does everything from very expensive classics to massive excavators
They are based on Hanson lane if you google them and I know you are in Ireland but he may well be able to help
He made me a CJ screen as mine wouldn’t fit the aftermarket surround and all in it cost 80 quid and got sorted straight away so if you are stuck it might be worth a call to see if he can cut one for you and post

ok thanks for your help guys. I got CJ screens done before custom cut for only 150. Have Autoglass here but they didnt get back to me after 2 calls and 2 months.
Just found a local guy with 5 star ratings so gave him a call. while on the phone he rang distributers in dublin who didnt have it but had ordered in 5 mins and will have it next week from UK. Screen and installation all in for 167 Euro.
Thanks again for help.

Only just noticed this thread and obviously you are all fixed up now, but for anybody else who needs a flat windscreen here is my CJ story (from March)...
I went to a couple of "plant glass" suppliers, and they wouldn't do it because their glass was not stamped as suitable for "on road" Windscreens.
Went to "Uroglass" who are a specialist windscreen supplier for all makes and discovered that what they really want to do is sell you a screen for your 1970 Lamborghini for £2,800, and were not interested in a CJ7. (by that time, neither was I...).
Went to the local Autoglass depot. Receptionist / telesales people had no idea so I explained to the manager. They cut down a Landrover Defender windscreen (being careful to leave the stamp...) and did it for £80 + VAT fitted.

It think it takes the piss. Plant and road float laminate are made (and marked) to the same british standard. The only difference with the "road" glass that I can see is that it has a kite mark on it to confirm it has some extra paperwork associated with it. I'm pretty sure if I needed a new screen one of the plant glass guys that supply work would have no problem cutting a screen for me, and I doubt anybody would notice it doesn't have a kite mark on it.

I had a L*nd R**er screen cut down to fit my CJ, preserving the marks already on the screen.
