Title: 2005 Grand Cherokee WJ 3.0 CRD - battery size question.
Post by: macabethiele on October 31, 2018, 05:15:22 PM
The battery on my Jeep is a replacement one being approx 175Hx175Wx353L a type 017.

Does anyone know if the type 019 battery will fit - its 190Hx175Wx353L I suspect not as the bonnet looks a close fit ?

There seems to be a better range of cca's on the larger casing.

I remember that the whole battery tray/box itself is a very close fit.

What I certainly DO remember is that the bolt/captive nut thinghy that holds the retaining plate down was partly rotted out.

What a ballache that was to loosen up and re-tighten.

I'd be surprised if you can go bigger.

Well the battery totally failed last week so had to bite the bullet and replace the old QH one that was the wrong size. I can confirm for future reference that a Type 019 casing will fit a 55 plate WK. i.e 190H x  175 W x 354 L.
