Title: jeep 4.2 258 engine cylinder head bolts query / request
Post by: bigdry on February 22, 2019, 03:25:59 PM
Hello all, about to undertake a engine rebuild  on my 4.2 cj7 engine.  Upon disassembly i found the head bolt that goes through the coolant gallery was broken (thanks PO!)  Im having difficulty finding a replacement bolt . Its the 7/16"  thread diameter type. Anyone have one they dont need or know where i can get one?
Also can anyone confirm how many retaining nuts are supposed to be on there to hold the rocker cover down? i have 2 but there are 7 head bolts with longer studs on top??? confused...  thx

rock auto but they are not cheap, the bolts are not the stretch type so can be used numerous times.

on my 4.2 the rocker cover was held in place by imperial bolts with numerous washers as the PO could be bothered to source ones of the correct length

Summit are good on customer service and international shipping but it will still probably cost a bit for some bolts.
