Title: 12" tyres on a CJ - what size spacers?
Post by: johnnyboy on May 27, 2019, 07:12:46 PM

As it says in the title... You lot will presumably already have known this would be a problem but I have only just found out....The rears are fine, but the fronts foul the leaf springs on lock.

What thickness of spacer do I need? Anybody recommend a make / supplier? (and how much should I be spending?)

And in view of recent posts, should I be asking this on Facebook instead?

John

I would start by adjusting the steering lock bolts and go from there to see if its much worse than before first as thats a free fix!.

Most spacers are 50mm to clear the lug nut of the original bolts so there's your answer....
A mate bought some 1 tonne  8 on 6.5"  50mm spacers off eBay for £100 for 4 on Saturday.....
Probably Chinese shit but if you're only using two then you have 2 spares....

The expensive option is new wheel with different backspacing......

50mm :icon_eek: maybe for the big boy axles, 30mm spacers are fine for CJs and clear the wheel nuts quite happily i have some on the CJ6.

I think i may have some brand new 30mm CNC aluminum billet ones in a garish red colour somewhere that i may be willing to part with if the steering lock adjust isn't good enough for you, not sure what you would gain steering lock wise though!.
