Guys
I have a 2001 4.7 Grand Cherry. Recently it has started to give me problems.
When I approach a junction and brake sharply to stop the engine stalls?
When I am stationary and select Reverse it will stall?
The problem is intermittent, and I have noticed that the revs seem to drop then catch?
It was serviced today by Peak Jeeps and all sensors were checked with no issues, The Idle stab throttle was stripped and cleaned. it may have helped a little but the problem is still there?
Any idea's would be appreciated. The car has just turned 50k Miles
Thanks

Thanks for your reply,
Was yours the same model car?
I had the idle valve body removed and cleaned yesterday and it does not seem to be as bad? On a positive I have just driven 180 miles (mixed driving) and have returned 25 mpg? before it would have achieved 21mpg? My mechanic did say there was a lot of crap in the valve area?
I suppose that I will just need to keep an eye on it!!! and hope it's nothing too expensive!!

Had a problem like this some time ago, same problems as your having …. Stalled for no reason at lights, going into reverse etc like yours. 8) .... (or so i thought)
It took so long to fix because they couldn’t find the problem, they changed the crank sensor, idle air sensor, plugs, leads, air filter and checked all ignition wiring. :swearmad:
Ended up being the engine control module thingy all along, it had finally given up and died. So after replacing it the cherry ran sweet and has done since. :weep:
Hope it’s something cheap and easy to find for you.
