Title: Welding/Fabrication Work
Post by: MK1 on July 20, 2006, 02:47:20 PM
Today I started to fit my new polyurethane body mounts and body lift kit. The captive plate under the rad started spinning along with a side mount. Not too bad to sort I thought.

It got worse. I need some welding/fabrication work doing on the rear out riggers and rear most mounting points. They have rotted out where the mounts were sat. I don't think it is a big job but its obviously more than welding a plate for the MOT.

Can anyone recommend anyone for this type of work? Distance is not an issue as I can trailer her if needed. I just need it doing.

Uggg I just recently sold my welder, now I'm in between getting my cherry fixed and finishing my harley at the minute.

Have you bought replacement panels?? There MUCH easier to fit than sheet metal. Try JC Whitney, you should be able to order a complete outrigger then rip your rusted one off, clean the area and have someone local to you tack the new one on.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

What you gone and sold up for you bloody fool?

I don't think I need whole out riggers. The corrosion is only the size of the rubber mount.

It's relatively easy to fix - I did 5 of mine.  Any welder worth his sort should be able to do it.  If you weren't so bloody far away I'd do it for you!!!!

I went to a place today, dad and two brothers in an industrial unit, one body and welding , the other a good mechanic. I used to use their dad years ago but haven't needed any welding for a long time.

The welder brother always was a bit of a wanker. He started off at 3/4 days but when his bros. came it went down to 2 days. To make thing even worse they can't do it for 2/3 weeks!

I really don't know where he got 3/4 or 2 days from. I would have thought you could achieve alot in that time.
