Title: XJ rocker panels/door sills.
Post by: UKJeeper on July 31, 2006, 07:16:20 PM
Washing the XJ and my finger pushed through the rocker panel/door sill. Made me wonder what you have done to fix/upgrade the door sills on XJ's?

Nowt meself, but I do know from the NAXJA forum that some folks over there replace them with box section.  Sounds like a reasonable idea to me if the sills are shot.  No need for sliders if you've got box section sills.

X2

Don't even bother with the sheet metal repair and making it look pretty. Search on NAXJA for rockers and there will be TONS of posts on it.

Oh for f**ks sake.

You're never gonna 'wheel it.

Weld a patch on it or you'll make a whole load of work for yourself you don't need.

I've often thought about welding some angle-plate to the chassis rails (with some connecting pieces) that will just cover the sills with maybe 10mm clearance. anyone tried this?

As someone who has had one delay after another I agree with the Dr.
