Hello, hope someone out there can help!
I have a v6 grand cherokee, running on dual fuel liquid petroleum gas and gasoline (petrol)
I have only owned it a couple of months and all has been fine.
However running on either fuel there does seem to be excessive tappit noise from the valves, especially when accelerating.
I am unclear if this is normal with a dual fuel conversion or if it valve wear? basically it sounds like a diesel engine!!!
Hope some one can whisper some words of wisdom?
With Thanks,
Paul

Hi RockItMan,
Give some more details of the setup if you can. What year is your grand, what mileage, what type of LPG system (brand, single or multipoint etc.) how long/miles has it been fitted.
I'm sure we can help but the more info the better
:)

Can you also confirm the engine size...... the ZJ never got a v6, just a 4l I6 and a 5.2 V8 (over here).

If it's the straight 6 4L then it could be a cracked exhaust manifold. It's a common problem and causes a ticking noise that sounds very much like noisy tappets.
The straight 6 engines don't tend to suffer from top end noise, but have often been mis-diagnosed because of a cracked manifold.
