According to “Mythbusters” on the Discovery channel last Sunday it actually reduces MPG, as did most of the fuel saving devices they tried and they were quite thorough.
The only thing they tried that actually saved money was running a Diesel engine purely on used, filtered veg oil. (I already knew this, we do it sometimes when the weather is warm.

Must be a myth if it said so on TV. I'm obviously deluded that I get a further 50 miles on a tank

They should check this guy out on J33P.....
"When i had my tj 4.0l i got 40-45mpg so there was no need for lpg"

I sit corrected.
To be fair, many people see no improvement. With my XJ, it makes no odds. It's one of those things that's cheap to try, and if it doesn't work, there's no harm done.
But 45mpg off a TJ? (http://http://www.thecomputermechanics.com/forums/images/smilies/lol01.gif)
