want to tension seatbelt in drivers side in my kj
doesnt rewind all the way sometimes,is getting to be a pain as have come out of kj and because the belt isnt retracted all the way, stops door from closing, pulled of cover and can see the geared whell, but cant see easy way to wind it
help
mike you the pro,help :?:

Personally I wouldn't mess with the retracting mechanism. You could try spraying the belt itself with something like Mr Sheen and pull it all the in and out a few times. This makes it a bit more slippery which helps it to retract properly. If it still doesn't work, get a new one.

so Mike
there no way to adjust the tension
will try it,the tension on is weak, from wear
will try what you said and see what happens
might try switching with passenger as not used much
cheers

so do you meen that you dont care if your passenger has a trip down the bonnet then?
get a new one mate. stuff like this you dont take risks with.
-
They're usually left and right handed anyway.

DEALER WANTS 200 EUROS,OOPS

Don't be tempted to fix / modify your present belt or try to get a used belt from a scrapper, if it's worn just dump it, remember whose life you are gambling with! I've had an old seat belt break when it was called upon, fortunately I just got away with a few extra bruises but it still scared the 5h1t out of me!
That said, 200 Euros is a bit steep!
As most XJs for the European market were assembled in Austria, why not try googling for 'seatbelt manufacturers' in mainland Europe and buy direct. Failing that try www.securon.co.uk (http://www.securon.co.uk) , and I think Britax also make OEM belts, you could try either of them.
Failing all of the above, go hunting round the local scrapyard for something similar in a common home grown car (ie cheap spares) and then buy a new version of that belt!

No XJ or KJ was ever made in Europe.
