OK. This isn't a particularly complex question but...
Barbie has developed a rattle from underneath. It only happens when you drive over a bump and is more like a metalic 'chink' noise.
I thought it was a loose exhaust clamp, but it ain't!!! It's not the cat rattling but I'm buggered if I can find anything.
Anyone got any ideas, you know... "Oh I had that happen and it was the...."
I'm running out of places to look and it's driving me bloody mad!!!!
-
hey jonah try the heat sheild on the cat
-
My cherry clunks over hard bumps, rather than chink or rattle. It's the bottom bolts on the shackles hitting the frame cus the springs flex so much. Longer shackles are on the never ending shopping list.
-
My front control arms bolts rattle in the sleeves changed for thicker bolts only rattles or clunks after off roading where they've worked loose tighten up the nylocs and all quiet
-
It could be the heat shield I guess, I'll have another look.
It ain't loose bolts in the suspension...I know that sound!!
Wish it was, I could have fixed it by now. This is on top of all the normal clunks and bumps that she makes.
It's a Jeep thing....

is it a heavey rattle or a light rattle. heavy is driveline/suspension etc light is thin stuff heat shield etc
-
The tinny kind. I'm used to the driveline kind, this is just that annoying..."i know it's nothing serious I just wish it would f**kin' stop" kind.
-
its a long shot i know but you aint got andy p trapped in the glove box have ya
-
Is he missing???.......I'll have a look!

Give the cat a thump, could be the core breaking up.

and if it anit it will be after you thumped it

Finally fixed it.
It was nothing serious, didn't think it was. One of the leaf spring clamps I'd fitted to stop the floating leaf from turning had come loose and was rattling around.
Big hammer fixed it.
