Title: Thinking of 4" RE Lift & 32x11.50 - Comments?

Hi All,

Just before I flex the plastic, a final call for comments please.

I've decided (well, almost decided  :? ) to go for a RE 4" standard lift (from Quadratec), with 32x11.50 Kumho 834 muds on standard TJ steels. Does anyone think I'll have driveline or gearing problems? Or any other cautionary tales?

I know the safer option would be to go 2.5" and 31's, but it's almost the same money & work involved and I just have a sneaking suspicion I'd regret not going for the 4".

better to get the lift to work correctly rather than opting for something with stance but riddled with problems.

Ain't got a Wrongler, so won't offer advice on the lift, but 15x7 wheels might be a bit skinny for 11.5" wide rubber.

11.5" wide on 7" will work but not ideal and shouldn't really be permanent, according to those I've spoken to as I was considering the same.

Also a 4" lift will probably make those 32s look quite small.

I would definitely go with the bigger lift and personally I would do that first then fit the biggest tyres I could under it once it has settled in. Lack of gearing might make it a little sluggish but it's not as bad as some people describe. Plus, gears and lockers are something worth saving for for later.

All of this is just my opinion though, half the fun is learning and possibly making a few small mistakes along the way.

Buy the adjustable top arms to go with your kit and a proper HD SYE. If you cant make room in your budget for these then wait till you have.

I've got a RE 4" lift on my YJ, and i run Bfg mt's 33x10.50, i got the kit from FTE 2 years ago for £750, this was the total kit including disconnents,transfer case drop kit and rear axle wedges, i have no noticable drive line vibrations, normally after a lift the rear prop UJ's go but i'm still on my original (touching wood).Mines only a 2.5 with 4.10 diffs so lack of power is noticable but off road in 1st low it runs at the same speed as a tj with 35"s and 4.56r&ps

I went with the BFG33x10.50 £115 each, these were the biggest diametre tyres i could get without too many mods and having to do R&Ps also i didn't need new wider arches with this width of tyre, stability hasn;t been an issue and it doesn't ride too bad,
