hiya all , hows about this then, had problems with the old 2.5's coil a non original one hand been bodged in so bought a new one cruised over to bubba's where we tried to fit it. 4 hours later no spark and no engine running. so brought home on a truck by a drink driver (AA), went out this morning checked the coil there are 3 connections on the bottom. 2 positives and 1 negative connected them up to the coil and turned them on after a few mins i noticed the plastic on the top of the coil bubbling black plastic! so turned everything off and went to mope about! any ideas any one?

You're probably running a 6 volt coil at 12 volts. Has the ballast resistor been removed/bypassed to run a 12v coil?
-
i don't belive its a 6v coil but it was purchased brand new this week from the usa.it was connected properly as per the vehicle wiring diagram so not sure whats happened!
