Title: 2" lift kit
Post by: jonathanhann on February 18, 2007, 07:13:44 PM
What does any one reckon to a cherokee lift kit that works by means of putting a spacer block on top of the rear leaf springs and spacers on top of the front springs??

it is a cheap way of gaining a little more height but it aint up to much. spacer blocks for the rear springs are a bad idea because of the increased risk of axle wrap. upgraded rear springs and front pucks are ok but still better to save up and go for a propper lift kit. 8) are you looking at the ones on the bay by any chance??

Thats what I've got, along with a longer rear shackle, and it works fine.

Cheap and cheerful.   It'll do the job of lifting your truck 2" for a minimum amount of cash.  If you plan on going higher at a later date, I'd hold out for a full spring kit, and do a proper job first time round, but if you just want a bit more height a budget lift will work.
Personally I don't like lift blocks on leaf springs, I'd look at extended shackles instead if that's the way you decide to go.

the only other thing that i forgot is that you wont get the same amount of flex without longer shocks as you will bottom out the stockers and restrict droop. though it will work it is still best to replace the whole system to get the best out of it. 8)

thats about what i was thinking , i prob wont go serious off roading so axle wrap wouldnt be a prob. I just want a bit more of an aggressive stance.
They are the ones off ebay listed under 1source manufacturing.
Trouble is when i got the jeep i brought a new set of rear springs from explorer pro comp, which are 16% stiffer according to them, I now wish i got the complete lift kit. As it is i need new front springs as it sits at 30" from ground to wheel arch!
Now I want to lift it up higher, typical!(for cheap as poss)
Cheers for the replies, any other hints or tips would be appreciated.
