should there be any play in the steering ?
when stationary but with the engine running, i can move the steering wheel about half an inch either way before i feel any resistance and the wheels start turnin, if i gently rock the steerng wheel back and forwards about an inch in either direction then it feels notchy in 1 place , on the road i have to correct the vehicles direction.
i was told that this was due to the tyres and the camber of the road. i accept this my be correct for a country lane but not a dead flat m way.
does this sound normal or an i just being paranoid,
thanks

Sounds about right - not sure about the notchy bit tho

Yep, sounds like mine to. But I'm with Stew, not sure about the notchy bit.

Is it actualy drifting to either side, or is the steering wheel just off centre?
-
the wheel is off centre, however you have to keep correcting the path,
guess im just too used to my omega estate
love the jeep thou, havent told the missis how much fuel it uses

you can tighten up the steering box, look where the play is
