Title: KJ brakes

When the Blue Bus was in at the stealership for the LBJ recall yesterday, they decided she needs new front discs and pads.

They want £333 for the job.

Is this extortionate? Anyone recommend a jeep specialist who's cheap and good?

I'm in North Essex.

A quick look online says that new pads and discs all round would be about £170 for the parts. You really don't need a Jeep specialist to do the job, there's nothing special about it.

£333 sounds remarkably cheap for a stealership, given that the cost of mopar parts is markedly higher. Still, I'd either do it myself or take it to your local backstreet garage where labour isn't £120 an hour. Ask people you work with for a recommendation.

Just need to set aside plenty of time and not worry too much. You're not going to touch the hydraulics, just unscrew some bits and bolt on new ones.

However, don't just take the dealer's word for it, they're possibly just touting for business when there's still plenty of miles left on the discs especially.

Yeah' find a write up with nice pics, it's not that hard to do.  a friend was quoted £160 for oil change and filter on a disco recently, he told them to f%%ck off and did it himself took about 30-45 mins.........

Yeah do it yourself, i did and if i can im sure you can. cost me less than £100 to replace brakes on all wheels (discs, shoes and pads)

Yeah the new brake disk 'call':
my local Stealership claimed at a service at around 37k mile that my TJ needed new discs for 300quid; I refused & later other garage said they were fine; I'm currently at 92k & still haven't needed to change them!
Pads are different; eaten plenty of them!

Well judging by the pics in the general forum, you DO need new discs, on the front at least. Bummer.
