Hi guy's
I appreciate that this old chesnut keeps cropping up but i'm still confused.
I know that my '95 Cherokee has a factory fitted immobiliser and remote locking facility, how can I identify the correct remote I need for the system?
Every time I reconnect battery after doing minor electrics I end up sprinting to 'secret place' to find the immobiliser reset button which is not in the most accessible place!
Thanks

There were two types of alarm/immobiliser fitted to early UK XJs. They were not factory fit, they were generic systems badged as Chrysler retro fitted at dealers as an option. If you have no remotes you will have to go to an alarm specialist to get the system identified. They are still available if you can find out which type you need. If your local Jeep dealer has been around since '93 and has some experienced Jeep mechanics they should be able to identify it too.

Many thanks for replies so far, all I can find in the documentation is a small card referring to the Remote System.
Tim any idea what system is fitted in yours?

Sorry, no. But I think I have some kind of booklet or card too. If I remember, I'll have a look when I get home.

OK. Mine's an EVSII. The proper people to get a new one from are Tacco in Missouri. They no longer exist. Bummer.
However, try Piland (http://http://www.thejeep.com/piland.html) who will send you a new one if you can provide them with the code. If you don't have that, then you need to give your VIN to dealer, Chrysler UK or even Chrysler HQ so that they can look up your code.
Or just get your alarm ripped out and stick another one in.
