Title: Overheating problem
Post by: Kenny on August 19, 2007, 04:41:53 PM
Yesterday my GJ (WJ 4.0lt) temp was just shy of 125 after being stuck in traffic jamb for one hour.  Called RAC out but what a waste of time!

Any suggestion on fault - the radiator fan isnt kicking in either even when the A\C and demister is switched on.  Had the wajon in Kwik Fit for re-charging 6 weeks ago - made no difference though!

Anyway what makes matters worse the cab heater is pushing out hot air at the passender side and cold air on the drivers side (dual control) when the heating is set for full heat.

The RAC guy checked for gas in the water (nothing found), water pump appears to be pumping the water around the engine (took the small circulation pipe of the thermostat housing and it pumping).

I also did the key trick and it didn't give a code yesterday but today its displaying "P0118" (water temperature sensor got high voltage).

This weekends been shit!

Anybody got any suggestions?????

If it has a viscous fan coupling, is it working?

If it usually only overheats when standing still it could well be the fan. This will also stop the A/C working at low speeds and when standing still.
