I've just bought a 79 CJ7 auto LHD.
Did the auto models have the option of tilt adjust on the steering collumn or were all of them fixed position like mine is?
Are there any major differences in the firewall pressings if I want to convert it to RHD?
-
it was an option and no there arnt any major differences i am sure you have got one but if not i have a spare rhd dash board but why not leave as left hooker
-
I might just do that, just as long as my insurers don't freak out too much.
It leaves me loads of poser fancy dashboard kits to chose from and HD power steering boxes.
If Jeep made a tilt collumn with the shifter on it I'll find one eventually, I found the Flaming River ones at 4WD Hardware.
$699 and you can't fit the steering lock either.
-
I reckon you'd find one on a fullsize cherry or waggy.
-
I never thought of that.
It stands a good chance of being the same or adaptable.
-
it is amc bought all there columns from general motors but yes old fullsize are the same as the cj ones i take it you have th400 and column shift

Torqueflight with a dana 300 transfer I hope.
It's definatly a dana transfer box with the thru drive and centre diff rear axle.
I got the 1979 date off the DVLA site as I gotta pay the £25 to get the V5.
It gave the year of manufacture as 79 but reg 82.
Engine is 76-79 type with iron inlet manifold, the axles are narrow track.
Shoulda got the VIN number wrote down as that should reveal all.
