Title: noise from steering column
Post by: MOCAJ on November 02, 2007, 02:32:40 PM
97 TJ- when cold mostly, i get a squeeling noise from the steering column when turning the wheel.

Is there a bush that needs lubing or replacing ?

It not a major thing, just annoying and usually goes when things warm up

anyone had the same  :?:

I get the same on my 98TJ. Its an everyday driver and only does it during the winter or when cold. Never found out what causes it though as by the time my truck has warmed up its stopped doing it.

Would be interested to know what it was though also.

This seems to be a common fault because my 97 Tj dose the same thing.

It's probably the rubber boot at the bottom of the column by your feet. Get some silicone grease in there.
