Will this do the job of pulling out my XJ rear wheel bearings??

it should certainly help. ya can always just destroy the old bearings as long as you dont send bits down the tube into the pumpkin.

All you need is a 12 point 1/4 ring spanner and a length of steel rod about 20mm diameter, a foot longer than your axle.

Use the spanner to release the screw in the diff holding the cross pin in. Remove ( or half remove) the cross pin and then insert your rod in the axle, through the diff and use it to punch out the bearings from behind.
