Title: my shaft is too long
Post by: CrunchTyme on November 08, 2007, 06:55:21 PM
Hola   Birty's

During the D35 to D44 axle swap on my TJ,  i have come  up with a driveshaft that is  a little over 1" too long.  I  am going  to attempt to shove  the  axle  rear ward to compensate, by   adjusting  the  UCA   and LCA ( long arm).

Is it better to set  the weight off of the axle,  unbolt all the controll arms,   shift the axle it back till I can hook up the driveshaft then adjust  the arms to fit,

Or   some other  easy  way   I can't  quite figure out while nursing a  corneal abrasion from 7 grams of trail  dust in my eye. ( ruined  my concentration)
Any help  would beappreciated

Thanks
Martyn

replace the drive shaft with one the correct length for stuffing or your transfer box will self destruct at it's earliest convenience....i have seen it happen.

Also you may wear your diff cover on your fuel tank guard,
this is common with lifted tj with aftermarket tank guards.
I'm with isle of man, take your prop to propshaft shop or local engineers get them to cut and shut it to correct length, wont cost much.

Thanks  guys,   It going to the local  prop shop,  hopefully they  will have it  back so I  can  wheel  this weekend.   The  Misses is having back surgery  next friday ,    so I wheeling is going to be limited to  the back yard, and the grocery stores

Cheers
