Title: Underhood snorkel

I needed a snorkel but did not want the ARB one because I would nock it off on a tree, and I dont have the $$ for one.  So I got some drain pipe from home base along with some Goop automotive sealent, and a hole saw.
It took about 30min to complete once I got going.  I am really happy with the way it came out.  I can drive around in water that is higher than my doors, and I get a little better MPG because of the high pressure area in front of the windshield.

have attempted just such a modification,  but on the right hand drive it's not possible because of the wiper linkage.

normally it's topped off with a hummer cover.

How do you get your engine that bloody clean?

Jet washing doesnt bring mine up like that!!!!

i like the idea but i do think you still risk water ingress. not shooting down you work but the problem is when you are not moving or a drop into some deep water creates some back wash. ive had that aria of my truck dripping wet far too many times to use somethin like that. i do hope it works for you though mate and well done for coming up with your own solution

AH yes.  I do have a trick.  After Jet washing I wait for everything to dry, and then spray the whole thing down with Armor- All.  I mean everything the valve cover, the hoses, Just not the drive belt. I then close the hood and forget about it.
You dont have to wipe or scrub anything.  It also helps the hoses and rubber bits live longer.

I had never thought of a right hand drive.  This is why I like wheeling with people from all over the world, everything is different.  It makes it harder to come up with fixes for the same type of rig made in different parts of the world.
I guess you could run the pipe across the front of the motor and then run it back to the fire wall.  Ponyracer from Mildenhall Offroad did something like that with his rig.

Jeep UK do something similar on their offroad demonstration vehicles so they can sell them on as standard afterwards without holes cut in the body.
