Title: brake pedal on cherokee
Post by: karaltajake on December 06, 2007, 09:25:23 PM
very new to jeeps. i have just bought  a 93 4.0 cherokee, and wondered why it seems that sometimes whilst coming to a stop the brake pedal seems to push back at me, like there was a change in pressure. is this common or do i have a problem? there doesnt seem to be a lack of bracking power.

lot's of factors to be taken into consideration..........one could double check the brake pads for tolerances and the sensors are clean with the exciter ring set correctly.

also right foot could be heavy or tyres fooooked.

clunk is almost certainly the rear axle. as for the brakes cant ye get a free check at one of these tyre places

even if the clunk is towards one side? does it mean death soon to axcle? or will it be ok for a while? if i double brake it isnt so bad?

so i shouldnt get too worried or anxious about the rear axel suddenly breaking? why does it make a clunk if it is the axel

the ABS will force the pedal back towards you and will have a pulsing feel to it. If the pedal is being pushed back towards you smoothly then it might be worth looking at the brakes. does the car pull to one side (sticking caliper) or it might be worth looking at the rear brakes especially if you hear cluncking.
