in the dark but i know sod all about dana's and my haynes book of

it's not uncommon for the yoke (pinion) nut to come loose.

oh joy  :?

i assume its one or both pinion bearings so can they be replaced
from the flange end or will i have to strip the whole assy
to sort it ?

it might be worth getting a re-build before any play knackers the RnP. do you do any miles in the jeep?

if ya got plenty of lube in it and it aint leakin just see how it goes for a while but i do think you might need a rebuild. try our Mik for advice on a re-build. it might surprise you how reasonable the costs.

Running like that will damage the R+P. You need to rebuild it as soon as you can or things will get noisy and expensive.

A straight rebuild with new bearings all round would be the best way to go. If if wears ring and pinion the costs will be much higher.

take the front prop of until you get it sorted, at least it won't have any power going through it

diff still spinning with prop removed, you will get the same effect if you leave it in 2WD.
