Hi I fitted 235 75 15 colway AT tyres to my standard 95 xj last year as well as a pro comp 3" suspension kit. really pleased with it but on full right lock the passenger side tyre is fouling the front skid plate and ive noticed now that the outside edge of the same tyre is wearing badly. Ive checked the tyre pressures .
Are theres tyres too wide or is it more likely to be a tracking problem ?
cheers

If your tyre only just fouls on full lock then wind out the steering stops a pinch, you won't hardly notice the difference.
I suspect the outside tyre wear is a result of the suspension lift. The inverted Y steering set-up needs to be adjusted as you will now have a fair bit of 'toe in'. You can do it yourself up to a point by measuring the distance between the rear of the front tyres and doing the same at the front using the same reference points. I normally use the centre line you can see between the treads. Screw out the tie-rod so that the front is ~1/8" narrower than rear. Then screw out the drag link adjuster to centre the steering wheel again.
Have the engine running when you do this as it makes it soooo much easier.
If you don't want to do that take it for an alignment check.

cheers steve ill give that a go in the next few days. Strange how the tyre on the drivers side is fine.

It was the same for me when I first did the 2" BB. I reckon it's because the drag link is directly connected to the passenger side wheel so when you lift the jeep, the drag link is technically being shortened quite a bit. The drivers side wheel is attached by the tie rod to the drag link close to the passenger wheel so isn't altered anywhere near as much.
Shitty description but hopefully you get my drift.
Mind you I might be talking bollocks, so some of the lads will probably set me straight

Have you recentred the axle by redrilling the track bar mount? If not, do this before adjusting the toe.
-
cheers mike. But im not sure what u mean. Im Not the most mechanicaly minded person

The track bar runs from the right hand chassis to the left hand side of the front axle (on a RHD XJ) and keeps it centered on the vehicle. When you lift the front of the vehicle the track bar becomes too short and pulls the axle over to one side. You can buy adjustable track bars or relocation brackets to counter this, but with a 3 inch lift the axle can be centered by simply redrilling the track bar mounting hole on the axle.

You have to unscrew the steering stop an put a washer behind it , a 5mm one should do it, you can't adjust the lock nut on the steering stop bolt as it's tack welded in position. the steering stop bolts are in very tight so have a socket and strong bar handy.

and heres' me trying to get that nut undone and giving up after a few minutes due to the lack of time.

Have a look at this info
Trackbar:

Wheel alignment:
http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAlignment.htm (http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAlignment.htm)
I lifted my 95 XJ (TD) checked the trackbar and it would have needed moving 5mm - so left it
