Title: Gearbox question
Post by: Trackbikes on February 04, 2008, 01:50:45 PM
I was looking on ebay and found a nice looking GC car but with the following problem. Excuse the caps it's copied from the listing.

I'd completly discounted it but having read what you said above do you think this is an easy fix or a new gearbox?

IT ENGAGES DRIVE FINE AND PULLS AWAY, IT WILL ALSO CHANGE UP BUT WON'T GO INTO TOP GEAR. DUE TO THE TALL GEARING IT WILL STILL CRUISE AT 65 MPH DOING ONLY 3500 RPM EVEN THOUGH IT WON'T CHANGE INTO TOP GEAR SO IS STILL DRIVEABLE. THERE IS 1ST, 2ND AND DRIVE ON THE GEARBOX SO I JUST PUT IT IN 2ND AND IT DRIVES FINE. IT ALSO WON'T ENGAGE REVERSE

The previous thread was about transfer cases on an XJ Cherokee, not gearboxes on a Grand, so a new thread tidies it up. It also helps when searching the forums.
Don't worry, the above still makes perfect sense.

I'd leave it alone. Plenty of others out there.
