Looking to buy a 4.0 Cherokee ('95 M plate)
On start up (from stone cold) the electric fan and mechanical fan operate. I'm told by the local Jeep maindealer that there is a link to the aircon as the fans are dual purpose. Therefore, if the aircon is on at start up, the fans will run (I checked the hot and cold operation of the aircon, so there was a demand on the system).
Also, Jeep reckon that the circuit is relatively short, so getting heat to the cabin shouldn't take long (the aircon was blowing hot without much of a delay at all).
Does all this add up? My concern is that there is an issue with the cooling circuit?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
Additionally, any way around not having a remote fob to open the doors? Jeep reckon £120 for a coded replacement. Again, any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Tim

Sounds fine to me. The electric fan will kick in when the aircon is on - it's wired to do do. The 'mechanical' fan should always be running anyway.
Walk away from it though, why pay for a £120 key fob for a £500 car.
Not having the alarm active could well invalidate your insurance as this model comes with one as standard.

Thanks for that.
I wasn't aware that an alarm was standard - Parkers indicates an immobiliser and remote locking. My main concern was the pain of having to lock the doors internally, and then lock the drivers door with the key.
Otherwise the car is mint (I've never seen leather - certainly not beige - look as good for the age and mileage - 130K).
I take your point on the remote key fob issue - I'd be looking to negotiate it in with the price (or get the price down to sub £1k) - particularly as the car is with a trader.
Cheers,
Tim
