depends how capable you are of doing the repairs yourself, the jobs aren't bad to do
the problem when it comes to welding is where do they stop, once they have started you are in the lap of the gods regards cost
Also depends how much your paying for it in the first place

hi gary, its on ebay at the mo,im ok with the oily bits but i dont weld,i know nothing about XJ,s (mechanically)but im ok with a spanner so im sure it cant be too difficult, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=010 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200207662484&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010)

Walk away and find another one....

The welding is about a day's work for someone - I had to have both sides of mine welded up a few months back.
Luckily a mate did it - that's his day job

i am with stew. walk away and find another. after all there aint no shortage is there. it would be best to find one that needs no welding purely because its in better nick to start with.
