This is whats wrong with my xj 2.5 TD VM
1, rear diff grinds
2, rear axle pinion oil seal leaks
3, rear crankshaft oil seal leaks
4, clutch dont disengage proper
5, pulls left constantly
6, at the lights when idling, I can hear what sounds like a cat gently meowing from the engine somewhere (something to do with air or exhaust I think)
This is what I dont understand about my xj
1, The alarm, whats the two little led's for on the dash with the little buttons
2, The interior light dont go out for around a minute even after starting the engine
3, There is no headlight flashers
4, the fuse box
5, what the little black box does under the bonnet, left, which runs for a bit after the engine has stopped (sometimes) sounds like a mini vaccum pump.
There is some rear axle rebuild kits on ebay somewhere, was wondering if their any good or shite.
I 'll never cure the pulling left, but could do with some advise on the flashers and the other problems.
Is the rear crank seal a lip seal or split two piece part of the sump jobby

the pulling to the left thing sounds a bit dodgy mate. do you have a sticky calliper?

No, I mentioned it in another thread and loads of suggestions were made, which I appreciated, but It may have something to do with a bash up the arse end o/s/r in a previous ownership, so I'm gonna live with it, but thanks anyways,

hence the reason i bought a 4ltr petrol

Have a look at this one. It's owned by Lee who is a member on here but I'm not sure what his username is on here. He has a LPG kit for it as well!

Wicked machine, shame it wasnt diesel, wife wont drive that around but I would have and I could still have bought a lpg one for her, gas ones are not much use for me at work, the diesel ones are more economical probably and I hate stopping to refuel always leave it till last moment, gas would drive me nuts
-
Point 5.1 might be tracking
Point 5.1 again could be aircon system
Point 5.2 nearly looked at a diesel XJ 2 weeks ago but have had therapy...
Bacon...don't forget HP Sauce...
Point 1.1 from me...Why is it most tekky questions for Jeeps come from VM diesel owners???????.......Loved mine but feck feel better with an I6...not that a 2.8CRD wouldn't go amiss..
-
it is a shame the diesel owners get so many probs
-
1, The alarm, whats the two little led's for on the dash with the little buttons
The red LED is the "alarm is sounding/has sounded"
The green one is for when you've de-activated it by pressing the panic button

Most of problems are just Jeep problems
The box that hums - that is what it is - they all do it, soon you will not hear it.
Just let the cat out from under the bonnet . Or is the engine running that smooth it is as if it's purring
-
the diesel is great engine when it works, emphasis on when it works. i switched to a petrol because i got fed up of fixing the engine. after i had bought the petrol i found an add in the exchange and mart for a place in london that did an engine swap for the vw T4 diesel. But i havent seen the add since
-
Well I have done some swapping about and the boots that were on the 4L ar now on the Diesel one, and bloody guess wot???
-
