Hi,
Day 4 of XJ ownership and still well pleased, everything works OK except the cruise control.
Press 'on' button, (depressed?) then press 'set', lift foot off pedal, car slows, will not engage at all. Not new to cruise, as have it fitted on other car.
Would like it to work on the Cherokee, as hoping that constant motorway running/speed will help with fuel consumption.
Could it be something as simple as a blown fuse?, is so, where is it located?
Other than that, what do I need to check, or look for.
Thanks

Make sure your doing more than 40mph

Demon
Thanks for prompt reply.
Tried to engage it several times at between 55 & 60 mph on motorway with no joy.

My jeep is an oil burner so the system may well be different, But apart from that I would check the power supply as you said, but check the paynes manual too!! they do one for the 4.0 litre.
Should have a description in that somewhere.

Most common causes are failed clockspring (97 on models only) Faulty brale light switch (don't be fooled if the brake lights work, there are two switches incorporated into one) and vacuum leaks to cruise servo.

Once again, thanks to you above for your suggestions/replies.
I have ordered a Haynes manual, which hopefully will be with me tomorrow, so will check the wiring, switches and servo, once the book of words tells me where to find them.
No doubt I will be back on again, with more questions before long! - aren't Jeeps fun?
