Title: Electric Aerial
Post by: TimS on June 08, 2008, 01:37:17 PM
Cherokee electic aerial has stopped motoring up when you turn the radio on so the reception is rubbish! How do you get to the aerial to work on it/replace it?

Is there a recommended replacement? I was thinking of binning the electric one and installing a bee-sting or similar from another car?

Cheers
Tim

You could see if the radio remote is giving voltage to the aerial, but it's probably just a broken aerial.
I suspect you'll need to remove the inner wing to get to it. Personally, I'd put another electric one in.

just look on fleabay and get one of the universal aerials. i did that and with a little jiggery the aerial fitted with no problems. not worth spending alot for a second hand unit

Mine didn`t rise at all (ooooer missus) but joking aside, I heard the motor workin and pulled it up and it came out a bit. ( ). Sprayed on some WD40 and turned the stereo on an off now its 100%. Just seized.

Now fixed- lots of oil and some pliers. Lots of crap stuck in it, but better again now! Thanks

Jack up the front and put it on axle stands. Remove the driver's side front wheel. Remove the inner wing (it's a large, moulded piece of rubber above where the wheel goes). You should have access to the aerial after removing it.
