All my front (so I must presume rear as well) lights have taken to going off at random
Flick the on/off switch and they come back on
Presume phone to0 Lighthouse for new switch but any other views??
-
Is that the headlights and the side lights or just the heads :D
-
any extra spot lights wired in
-
Got extra spots on their own switch which seem OK
Headlights go out and sometimes sidelights
Wriggling on/off switch gets them working again
-
sounds like the switch over heating its fairly common normaly any othe lamps wired up to them makes them worse evan on a relay but yours sounds like it is just tired
-
Thanks Bubba will do a mechanical muppet exploration tomorrow
-
i had a problem like that it was my main beam swicth on the floor
-
Stew
did you ever do the mod with the dinkywinkaz to give US style running lights?
Since Broxhead mine have been earthing out which caused my headlights to flash on and off. I wondered why everyone on the M27 was pulling over and letting me through must have thought I was mud camoflauged plain clothes cop car
Have disconnected the running lights and have my headlights back to normal just need to find the fuse for my sidelights and replace.

Think its the on/off switch for the lights been planning to check it out today but ....
-
Woody
Didn't
Mechanical muppet that I am I took the panels off underneath the steering wheel and removed switch knob as per Haynenesl manual
Couldn't undo spanner nut so wriggled connections put it all back together and it all seems to work still
-
Glad to hear that you have sorted your lights out
-
Stew
spent a while under the XJ's dash tracing down the fuse for the sidelights, what a brilliant place to put the fuse board
My manual doesn't seem to match my fuses either so had to resort to pulling each one till I found the blown fuse.
Now I have sidelights back.

Of course her demise did cause Councillor Troy's neckline to drop an inch, all to keep us males watching
-
And BUBBA said " let there be light (but only after you fit this dip switch)!" and there was light and it was a good light, waking up squirrels and foxes, and yearning to be powered by a v8 but thats another story!
