Yes.

But you might not notice much difference if they are the same sort of tread eg ATs. If you change from ATs to muds then you'd notice.

That's a long spin.  I know!  I drove the CJ from Bristol to Newhaven, then from Dieppe to Milan.  I can recommend a few places to stop in France if you intend on stopping for a night (I strongly recommend that you do!!!)

Where in Italia are you headed?

Hi,  I am also thinking of changing to 245/70/16 on my 2004 Grand Cherokee CRD Sport.  I was thinking of going for the Toyo Proxes S/T as we do most of the miles on road.

Jeep dealer just told me that I would need to change the spare as I might bust my diffs etc if I had a puncture and had to run with a 225/75/16 (my current size)

Any thoughts?  I am pretty new to all this stuff!

Cheers

Lee

Yes you need to run a full size spare on one of those or you'll knacker the transfer case.

Thanks, what about if I went for a 235/70/16? Same problem?

Hi Lee,
It's not the width it's the height, 75 is higher than 70,so your spare must be a 70 if you are fitting 235x70 or 245x70. as Mike said ,you will knacker the transfer case if run on 70's and fit a75 due to puncture etc.

so just to check, 245/75/16 will run on a zj without issues with one in each corner and a spare the same size?

Cheers

A 245/75R16 tyre calculates out at 30.5" so it is approx 1" taller than 245/70R16.

Thread was originally talking about 245/70R16
