Title: To Pimp or not to Pimp, that is the question !!!!
Post by: longman on July 05, 2008, 09:54:27 PM
My dilemma.
I got hold of this, my first Jeep a few months ago. I’ve just got the new rad. in and the fuel leak on the tank sorted. I have only done 48 miles in it so far, but I still think it’s a good’un .
I played £2400 for it and need some help in the direction to take with it !

1.Jeep used only for pleasure.
2.Can be parked off road under a car port.
3.Do not need to have the rear seats in it.
4.Not to bothered about fuel consumption (local use only)
5.My last series 3 Landy paid for it, so no credit on it . (makes a change)

Do I :

1.Lift it 2”
2.Upgrade wheels and tyres
3.Strip out the carpets
4.Fit an ally fuel tank in the rear
5.Upgrade the roll cage
6.Put two bucket seats with 5 point harness up front .
7.Actually get of my arse and join a club and do some off roading.
8.E.t.c, e.t.c
Or:
1.  Leave it as it is.
2.Probably sell it for the same‘ish money as I paid for it.
3.Not incur the wrath of “her in doors” for wasting money.
4.Not spend loads of money trying to obtain the ultimate goal (impossible me thinks)

Any suggestions as to which rout to take would be helpful and probably very amusing. This is the point of no return. It is time to make my ultimate set of wheels or give up the dream and grow old and forget it !

I have put a pic. in so you can see what I have to start with !!!
Thanks, THE LONGMAN.

I'd say

A drive it more 8-) and take the top down if possible

B Take it to a local play and pay and have a gentle dabble...

It will assist the decision process...

the jeep question is obvious, course you should do it, coz apart from the obvious pleasure, its important that you incur her wrath occasionally, will stop her taking your marital subservience for granted

I must say, you all make mucho sense. I am going to do the right thing and pimp my wheels. I'll use it this summer (joke) and start the job in the autumn.
I spent some time on you-tube looking at Jeep rock crawling and our American cousins have some top Jeeps.
I liked my old Land Rover but I love my Jeep !!

To plagerise a bit, OK, a lot.
A Jeep is not just bought, it's BUILT.
And,
Always remember, Jeep stands for Just Empty Every Pocket.

Now go and play safely with it, but remember a Jeep is like a horse - it will kill itself trying to do what you ask of it. A Landy, well thats more akin to a donkey or mule, a good plodder but when the going gets tough you are going to end up pulling it!

KEEP THE JEEP - IT WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT!

PS
I recon a lift would look good and sling the bling!

Thanks Eastryjeep, I agree, the blingy bits are a bit loud. And they cost a packet (on it when I got it) Bet someone will buy them on ebay, £$£$. I've been used to the wonderful world of pattern Landy parts at very cheap prices, so being a Jeep owner is a wallet loosen’er.
I'll get there! To anyone thats interested this was my outgoing Landy
( had a 2lt Tdi Montego engine fitted)I put the windows back on to sell i't and the bikini hood came off in two mins.I will be getting one for the Jeep. I sort of want a bit of a stripped down look , like my old Rover !

I loved this Landy, but my JEEP is a REVELLATION.
Title: Lift it a bit

Go slowwwwwly on the changes and life wont get too expensive.
I have a wrangler 2and half inch lift set of springs with new poly bushes just put on and less than 1k on the springs sitting in my garage if you want.
£250 would do it. Then get yourself a i" body lift and 31's or maybe 33x10.50s with some trimming would fit. have fun
