Title: going to repair old windshield, need pics
Post by: Nosebolt on July 23, 2008, 01:37:08 PM
I have decided to restructure the old CJ windshield surround (actually the wife decided by spending the money on her Beach Buggy). So I have made a start but before I weld anything in it would help if I could see some pics of what it should look like. The first pics are the bits I need close up pics of the second is the other side before I started.

Is this a CJ7 screen surround or a CJ6 you are after reconstructing?
I'm happy to take photos of my CJ7 but not sure if its identical to the CJ5/6 frame. I may be wrong here but I thought the 6 had a flatter top profile to the 7 which would make the top corner subtly different.

On the other hand, if it is the same profile, you might be better off nipping over the bridge and taking a few moulds one weekend?

PS
I'll give you a Fiver for a rust free CJ7 tub if you've got one lurking

It came with my CJ7 so I assume it’s a 7 but to be honest with the work I have found in this wagon I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be from a fiat 500

Just to show what I’m working with here’s the other side now I have removed the filler, and yes there was only filler holding this together.

Na, the complaint was more to do with the previous owners bodging, some of the things found would make you cry, the worst was a lag bolt, the type used for garden fences used as a shackle pin, in comparison cutting the rail channels of the windshield was minor.
