Title: Dashboard / gauge problems
Post by: nickg on August 01, 2008, 06:34:17 PM
Hi all.
I've just joined the forum & posted a 'hello' in general.
My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 runs fine but all the gauges, speedo, fuel, temp etc go to zero now and again. It doesn't affect how the Jeep runs, they go to zero then they come back on for a few minutes then go off again for a few minutes etc. Help please.
Also,my remote fob will lock & unlock the car but when i open the door, the alarm goes off until i turn on the ignition.
Are these problems linked ?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Never come across the instrument thing on one of these Js and TJs used to suffer fron a similar thing. You could get some proper contact cleaning spray from Maplin, RS or similar, remove the instrument cluster and clean the conections to it.
As far as the alarm is concerned, do the lights flash when you operate the remote? does pressing the lock button three further times make the lights flash again?

The lights have never flashed when the alarm is armed or disarmed it just bleeps.
Is it much of a job to remove the instrument cluster?
