Hi,
I have a grand cherokee 1999 model (1998 shape) 4.0L, Petrol, orvis model which has coved just 50,000 miles. It's been serviced at the correct times by main dealers.
Now my problem is when I have been using it for awhile 20 mile drive and come home I have to pull it up the curb. Well this is where my problem is, it wont go up this 9" curb
. (I bet I can imagen what my neighbours are saying.... "He's got a 4X4 and cant get up a 9" curb" ....... If I put my foot down it just does not want to go. So I have to power off and then restart it and up she goes no problem.
Also when out and about I feel that its lost power ie not as responsive. I have to put my foot to the floor to get it to even move, again turn off at the key start it up and full power ahead.
Any ideas whats up with it or where I should be looking?

Drat my pikkies gone....ther is no reason why said ZG wont do the job...mabr approach angle????(http://http://birtydastardsjeepclub.com/forum/userpix/1247_davidbruce21_3.jpg)[/code]

Im still trying to decode your last message....
The angle is I am driving down the road and then turn to put up the drive of my house so the drivers wheel is on the kerb 1st (right hand side) I feel the kerb and then give it alittle more power to power it up the kerb but no joy.... like something is slipping. So I have to turn it off, start it up again and then it will drive up this little kerb no problem.

Approach angle of front wheels?

Nearly full lock.

When you say it's not responsive, would you say it could be stuck in 3rd gear? This is a common symptom of transmission governor pressure sensor failure.
-
Yes it could be like that ie not kicking down when you put your foot on the floor.
When I pull up at a set of lights, turn off, power back on its rapid again.
This could also be the pulling up the kurb? if its stuk in the 3rd gear when it should have dropped down a 1st and then when I pull up the kurb it just stuck in the wrong gear...
You say its common what kind of damage is this going to cause my bank account to have this govner replaced, any ideas?

My m8 has a OBD II and came around and plugged in and these two codes came up.
P1757
P1762
On searching net I found these
P1757 = GOV Press Not Equal to Target @ 15-20 PSI
The requested pressure and the actual pressure are not within a tolerance band for the Governor Control System which is used to regulate governor pressure to control shifts for 1st 2nd and 3rd gear (Zero Pressure Malfunction).
P1762 (M) =Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Volts Too Low or High
Sensor input greater or less than calibration for 3 consecutive Neutral/Park occurrences (4-speed auto. trans. only).
So looks like Mike Pavelin hit the nail on the head! Any idea where I can get one of these at a resonable price as I phoned the stealer and they quoted me £84 odd plus VAT
So anyone know where I can purchase a Governor Pressure Sensor at a good price?
