Title: cherokee transmission

What is the best way to change the oil in the transmission (would it be easier to change the filter and would a synthetic oil be better.

hi dood its gonna be messy you have gotta drop the tranny sump and then you can see the filter its easy but messy

If you're talking automatic XJ, regular DexronII or equivalent is fine.

Drained it from the plug twice but still water in oil due to oil cooler in radiator blowing

Now that was interesting.
